Both Sides of the Same Coin/Practice What you Preach

To never hurt from loss

Means to never have loved

Give today for all our memories

Can’t take them away

But still, I cannot say goodbye

I stand as you would see

In a row in front of where you should be

The words make sense

Though one repeats: why…why?

And won’t leave me

I look straight ahead and I begin to cry

But still, I cannot say goodbye

If I had never loved, I would have never lost

If I had never lost I would not feel such pain

But if I never lost and knew only love

I would be grateful to live again

To make new memories

Never to be taken away

I know this cannot be, I know no one is here to stay

But I don’t know why

And still, I cannot say goodbye

I can’t love nothing

I can’t understand everything

You are still here but not where I can see

Your absence is felt as your presence was

Tears will dry over time

But new ones will be replacing them

Until I see you again

I will see you in everything I am

The pain means love and loss

But it is only there because I cannot not

I cannot live and not reach the end of life

If we go it is because we have been here

To never hurt from loss

Means to never have loved

I don’t know if they all converge, all these lines,

But I can’t help thinking

They were right

To live on in our hearts is not to die

But still, I find, I cannot say goodbye
