The grass has stolen your feet
You walk silently in its long blades
The moon has taken your warmth
It wanted it for itself
And without a coat or care you gave it up in good faith
The sun would give you some back
The waves have stolen your feet
You paddle in a diagonal line out to sea
Up to your knees
And the sand has taken your thoughts
It wanted to bury them for you
For safe keeping, for later reading
And without one further thought you gave them up in good faith
They’d be returned in written form
